Tucked between Murray and Wellington Streets, Wolf Lane has long been one of Perth’s most character‑rich urban corridors — a place where street art, small bars, and creative energy converge. The recent Wolf Lane Refresh builds on that identity, introducing a more welcoming, people‑centred public realm that supports both day‑to‑night activity and the laneway’s evolving cultural life.
The upgrade focuses on improving comfort, greenery, and the overall pedestrian experience, while adding and enhancing the street art. Subtle surface treatments and lighting enhancements help the laneway feel safer and more cohesive, while new pockets of seating and planting soften the hard edges typical of inner‑city service lanes.
Pockets of furniture and planters are placed along the lane attracting pedestrians to pause and appreciate the murals that can be found scattered about on the buildings.

A key part of the refresh is the carefully selected suite of street furniture supplied by Draffin Street Furniture, chosen for its durability, contemporary aesthetic, and ability to complement the laneway’s eclectic character.
Wandin Straight Seats & Benches
with Concrete Plinths
The City of Perth chose Wandin seating, a modular and linear seating option that suits the narrow proportions of the laneway.
All Wandin seating has optional concrete plinths, in this case grounding the furniture visually and physically and offering a robust foundation that stands up to high‑use urban environments.
Spotted Gum timber slats bring warmth to the space, creating comfortable places to pause, meet, or simply take in the laneway’s artwork and atmosphere.
A single stainless-steel armrest was used on some of the arrangements to meet DDA compliance for the space.

Hamilton Planters in Vibrant Colours
and Varied Sizes
To inject greenery and visual rhythm, the project incorporates Hamilton Planters in a mix of square sizes, and all of them powdercoated orange.
These planters punctuate the laneway with moments of vibrancy, supporting hardy plant species that thrive in tight urban conditions.
While the Hamilton Planter can be easily mounted to the ground to create traffic barriers and prevent surface movement, the planter’s portability also allows for flexible placement, helping define micro‑spaces without restricting movement.
Hamilton Planters offer so many features they are certainly one of Australia’s most versatile commercial planters. Easy mounting system, built-in self-watering wicking systems, and battened benches that can be specified at seat, table, or bar height.
The Wolf Lane Revitalisation Project is a success. Transforming a tired laneway into a vibrant inviting space by day or night, while showcasing artists and their street art. The project also demonstrates Wandin Modular Furniture and Hamilton Planters ability to be placed anywhere, to transform the area into a greener, functional, and inviting space.
