Doveton’s Autumn Place was recently transformed by the City of Casey, creating an area for the local community to meet and gather. Located in Doveton’s central retail precinct, the newly landscaped area now functions as a town square, pedestrian link and park.

The objective of the park upgrade was to ‘enhance the amenity, safety and community role of the precinct as a people place that caters to all ages and abilities’. Autumn Place park is divided into three zones – a play space, park and town square. Because the area is a multi-use space, the furniture options had to be comfortable, flexible and inclusive.

The Furniture

The mix of outdoor furniture included Kiama picnic settings, Kiama seats, curved park seats, seat toppers and tree guards. Aesthetically the furniture pieces are all very different. But the choice of eco-certified Spotted Gum timber battens and powder coated black frames created a sense of cohesion.

Kiama Picnic Settings

The Kiama is a modern take on a traditional picnic setting. The design incorporates classic materials like hardwood timber and steel with contemporary design. The Kiama’s heavy duty construction and highly durable materials ensures the table settings will be in use for many years.

Curved Park Seat

The central path connecting the retail strip with Paperbark Street and Hawthorn Road feature classic curved park seats.

These curved park seats are the latest edition. Recently undergoing a makeover, the seat has redesigned arm rests, beautiful Australian Spotted Gum timber battens and powder coated frame.

Slatted Seat Toppers

Concrete and timber benches provide additional seating throughout Autumn Place park. Constructed to fit snugly into the precast concrete recesses, these slatted timber seat toppers are hard wearing and extremely durable.

Furthermore, the seat with back and bench designs soften the look of these bases, plus add a level of comfort.

Tree Guards

Flared tree guards shield the newly planted trees scattered throughout Autumn Place. The guards will protect the trees as they continue to grow, due to their sturdy mild steel construction.
