Felicity using a brake press

At Draffin Street Furniture we believe in supporting the Australian manufacturing industry and economy by producing in Australia with Australian products and services where ever possible. As a part of our commitment to this we host work experience students several times a year as a way of promoting manufacturing as a potential career path.

Throughout the week of work experience, students spend each day in different departments such as Sales, Engineering / drafting, Assembly and inward / outward goods. The final day is spent under strict supervision, experiencing some of the machinery and practices that we employ at Draffin. Welding, sheet metal folding, wood work and assembly are performed to produce a final project that they can take home. In this case the project is a 3 legged stool made from stainless steel and black butt timber.

Hopefully one day, these students can join our industry and continue on the tradition of innovative Australian design and manufacture.
